My name is Richard Spence and I am the owner and sole technician of the small business, ICQ Computers.I have worked in the IT industry since 2003 where I spent 5 years at one of the top 3 Internet Service Providers. I developed an in-depth knowledge of troubleshooting various computer and network issues. I also worked in Provisioning and Faults developing inside knowledge on how ISP's work and their limitations and abilities.
I then moved to a Mobile Computer Repair company (one of the Top 10 in Australia) where I spent a further 2 years. I became disheartened by the company's blatant attempts to extract as much as possible out of each client for the least amount of work provided. While I understood businesses were there to make money, I felt more like a fraudster than a technician.
I decided that I no longer wanted to be employed by someone else's profit driven company so in 2012 I gained a contract with a school in the IT Department in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. I learned skills and studied IT in larger organisations working with a small team supporting over 2,200 electronic devices.
At the same time in 2012 I started the business ICQ Computers. My core goal was to 'be the boss' and be able to run the organisation precisely how I wanted. My key endeavor with ICQ is simply provide a high quality service at a reasonable and affordable price. My clients would have a person or business they can call on who is trustworthy, friendly and reliable.
I service everywhere from the North Shore to the Macarthur Region, having grown up in Macarthur. I am a typical Aussie family man with a wife and children.
